Great News From Sweden!

Swedes chose their winner today, and congratulations to Sanna Nielsen! As predicted, it was a heart-stoppingly close finish. Sanna beat runner-up, Ace Wilder, by 2 points.

The final results:
First place: Sanna Nielsen, 212 points
Second place: Ace Wilder, 210 points
Third place: Alcazar, 110 points
Fourth: Helena Paparizou, 84 points
Fifth: Linus Svenning, 83 points
Sixth: YOHIO, 82 points
Seventh: Ellen Benediktson, 61 points
Eighth: Oscar Zia, 53 points
Ninth: Panetoz, 31 points
Tenth: Anton Ewald, 18 points

Hurray for a career-making performance from Ace Wilder! Hurray for the successful comebacks of Alcatraz and Helena Paparizou! And poor Anton.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of ABBA winning Eurovision, the interval act was a medley of ABBA songs. Former Eurovision stars, Marie Bergman, Charlotte Perrelli, Malena Ernman, and Robin Stjernberg performed.

With Melodifestivalen over, we now look to other countries as they select their entries. Eurovision is only two months away! From what we've seen so far, there's no doubt it will be a fabulous show, loaded with talented musicians. Sanna Nielsen was perfect, and I'm so happy that she is finally going to Eurovision after seven appearances at Melodifestivalen. Sweden made the right decision tonight, and she will do a great job representing her country. Congratulations to all the performers!
